PRAISE HYMN: Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)
Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see.
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free.
My god, my Savior has ransomed me.
And like a flood, His mercy rains unending love, amazing grace.
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free.
My god, my Savior has ransomed me.
And like a flood, His mercy rains unending love, amazing grace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, the sun forbear to shine.
But God who called me here below will be forever mine,
Will be forever mine. You are forever mine.
THE WORD OF GOD: Isaiah 46:8-13
"Remember this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels. 9Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. 10I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. 11From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do. 12Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are far from righteousness. 13I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendor to Israel.
Psalm 32
1 Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
2 Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him
and in whose spirit is no deceit.
3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day
long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was
sapped as in the heat of summer.
5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"-- and you forgave
the guilt of my sin.
6 Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be
found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him.
7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround
me with songs of deliverance.
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will
counsel you and watch over you.
9 Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but
must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord's unfailing love
surrounds the man who trusts in him.
11 Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are
upright in heart!
Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 15:50-56
50I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." 55"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" 56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION (stand, if you are able): WOV No. 612

THE HOLY GOSPEL: Revelation 1:1-6
1The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2who testifies to everything he saw--that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. 4John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father--to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

PRAYER HYMN:
God Will Make A Way
God will make a way where there seems to be no way.
He works in ways we cannot see;
He will make a way for me.
He will be my guide, hold me closely to His side.
With love and strength for each new day,
He will make a way, He will make a way for me.
THE PRAYERS (stand): WOV Page 34
A: Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus,
and for all people according to their needs.

trusting in your mercy; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
C: Amen
THE ORDER OF CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS:
P: Gracious God,
C: Our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo.
Forgive what our lips tremble to name; what our hearts can no longer bear,
and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a
past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed;
and grant us grace to grow more and more in Your likeness and image;
through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
P: Jesus Christ our Savior gave himself for us, redeeming us from all sin and cleansing us to be people who are eager to do what is good. Through the water of rebirth and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, God saves us, renews us in grace and bestows on us eternal life.
C: Amen
GREAT THANKSGIVING: WOV Page 36

P: Lift up your hearts.
C: We lift them to the Lord.
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
C: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
P: It is indeed right and salutary that we should at all times and in all places
offer thanks . . . (Here the minister continues with the proper preface, concluding:) we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
Congregation sings
C: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna. Hosanna. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
P: In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks;
broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for
you. Do this for the remembrance of me.
Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.
