This is St. John Lutheran ChurchSt. John Lutheran church is located in the beautiful village of Romeo, Michigan. Our congregation is over 130 years old. We are a healthy mix of long time members and an infusion of new folks. We draw on our heritage to propel us into the future. We have worked hard to establish a warm, friendly, and accepting atmosphere. You would first experience this in our worship. Our Saturday service, held at 5 pm is very simple and casual. A little music, a little prayer, scripture, sermon and twice a month we celebrate our Lord’s Supper. Sunday services held at 8:30 and 10:30 combine elements of traditional Lutheran Worship with contemporary hymns, prayers, and are enriched with excellent music from our bell and voice choirs. Recently we added PowerPoint in the sermon and in Liturgy. Once a month our Praise Band leads us in contemporary worship. Our Sunday school children add to the warmth and friendliness by joining us at the beginning of our 10:30 service. We have many of the traditional organizations that you would expect from a church steeped in the Lutheran tradition while at the same time we are adding new and innovative ministries. The desire to change and to “Reform” ourselves is in our DNA. Our founder, Martin Luther was a German Monk, Priest and Scholar who came to believe that his church needed to change its ways. Reforms were needed which would enable people to know Jesus. Luther set about to make these changes and as the say: the rest is history.
Here are some of the ways we are reforming and changing. We offer the ALPHA program: a new and exciting way to be introduced to the Christian faith. We are a Stephen Ministries congregation where members are trained to help others who are experiencing the loss of a loved one, unemployment or any personal loss. We also reach out to others through Christian service projects such as Be The Church, Samaritan House, and a Halloween Party designed for our younger children in the community. We now warmly extend an invitation to you to experience for yourself a dedicated and caring church family in worship and fellowship!
